The Story Museum

The Story Museum is a delightful haven for storytelling in the heart of Oxford. Founded with the mission to enrich lives through the power of stories, the museum provides a space for everyone to engage with captivating narratives, create their own tales, and embark on imaginative journeys.

Step into the magical world of the museum and discover its enchanting Whispering Wood, an Enchanted Library, and Small Worlds, a dedicated area for younger children to explore. The museum also houses a 100-seat theater, a learning studio, and a temporary exhibition space, offering a diverse range of experiences for all ages.

Beyond its captivating galleries, the Story Museum hosts an extensive public program, including skill-building workshops, drop-in activities, and access visits for those seeking a more personalized experience. The museum also engages in community projects, bringing storytelling to targeted groups and enriching the lives of local residents.

With its captivating exhibitions, immersive experiences, and engaging activities, the Story Museum attracts up to 100,000 visitors annually, creating lasting memories and fostering a love of storytelling for young minds.

To reach the museum, we recommend utilizing Oxford's Park and Ride system, as city center parking is limited. The nearest public car parks can be found at the Westgate Shopping Centre and the Oxpens car park on Oxpens Road, both within a 5-minute walk from the museum. For disabled visitors, on-street parking is available with a Blue Badge, while there are also designated parking spaces on level 4 of the Westgate car park and at the Park & Ride car parks.

The museum is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Oxford Station, making it easily accessible by train.

Immerse yourself in the world of children's literature, discover a dressing-up box that rivals even the most imaginative dreams, and embark on a series of activities that include cinema, storytelling, and dance. The Story Museum awaits, ready to ignite the imaginations of young people and adults alike.
