Christmas Tractor Runs in Oxfordshire
There's a moment, standing on a cold pavement in December, when you hear it before you see it: a low rumble, a blast of Mariah, and then a tractor the size of a small house rounds the corner, lit up like the Christmas tree in your front room.
Christmas tractor runs have become one of the best free festive outings around Oxfordshire. Farmers and young farmers' clubs spend weeks dressing their tractors in lights and tinsel, then drive them through towns and villages in a glowing convoy, raising money for local charities as they go. Children go bananas. Grown-ups pretend they're only there for the children.
Here's where to catch them this year:
Christmas Tractor Runs in Oxfordshire 2026
Before you go
Wrap up. You'll be standing still for a while, so bring hats, gloves and something hot in a flask.
Pick your spot early. The tractors don't usually stop, and the best spots on the route fill up.
Don't head for the start. Farm yards are busy places on the night. Watch from the route instead.
Check before you set off. Times can slip and routes can change, so look at the organisers' Facebook pages on the day.
Bring some cash or your phone. Most runs have bucket collections or text-to-donate.
Keep little ones back from the kerb. They're still tractors, however sparkly.
