Hinksey Splash Park

Looking for free family fun in Oxford this summer? Hinksey Splash Park offers water play, a fantastic playground and plenty of outdoor activities, making it one of the city's most popular family destinations.

Hinksey Splash Park

  • Location: Hinksey Park, Abingdon Road, Oxford
  • Entry: Free
  • Opening: Throughout the summer season
  • Park Access: Open daily

The Splash Park features interactive water play equipment and surrounding lawns, providing the perfect place for children to cool off and enjoy outdoor fun during the warmer months.

Hinksey Park is also home to a dedicated Mini Wheels Track, giving younger children a safe space to practise riding balance bikes and scooters.

Getting There

  • On Foot: Around 15 minutes' walk from Oxford city centre.
  • By Bike: National Cycle Route 5 passes through the park. Cycle racks are available.
  • By Bus: Regular services stop outside the park. Redbridge Park & Ride is also nearby.
  • By Car: A small pay-and-display car park is available off Abingdon Road.

Nature and Wildlife

Originally created in the 1930s on the site of the former Oxford Waterworks, Hinksey Park is now an important green space for both people and wildlife.

The lake and surrounding habitats support a variety of species including amphibians, bats, waterfowl, seabirds and small mammals, making it a great place for families to enjoy nature as well as outdoor play.

Whether you're splashing in the water, exploring the playground or enjoying a picnic by the lake, Hinksey Splash Park offers a fantastic free day out for families throughout the summer.
