Xplosive Events are bringing their funfair and fireworks night back to Abingdon this November.
Many families who went in 2025 reported long delays getting into and out of the airfield. Some people were stuck in traffic for hours, and some missed the fireworks altogether. Many of those who did make it enjoyed the show, though, so we’re including it in our list in the hope that things run smoothly this year and everyone has a great time.
Abingdon Fireworks: What the organisers say is changing
The organisers have published a list of changes for 2026, including:
fewer tickets on sale
an earlier fireworks show, plus a quieter show for younger children
parking that must be booked in advance, with arrival slots, and car parks allocated by your home postcode
a second permanent exit gate off the airfield
a traffic control centre on site, with live updates sent to your phone and to roadside signs
the bonfire lit after the fireworks, so fewer people leave at the same time

If you’re going, book parking early, choose an early arrival slot (rides are discounted until 4pm), and pack snacks and warm layers in case of queues on the way home.
